with the Power of Movement

The 24 Coin Challenge
Controlled Position
Controlled Movement
Conditioned Response
React and Respond
The most valuable lesson I ever learned came at the surprisingly low cost of just twenty-four cents. It was a revelation that made me realize I was holding in my hands the Greatest Team Ever Assembled: the Motor Control System.
This experience highlighted something profound: every movement we make presents an opportunity to engage various brain regions. My mission was to integrate these areas effectively, enabling me to master a challenging skill in under a second. The journey from a controlled position through deliberate movement to a conditioned response demanded seamless cooperation among different parts of my brain. This collaboration is what trained me to respond swiftly and skillfully in the moment.
So, what drove me to take on the 24 Coin Challenge? I sought to showcase just how rapidly the human brain can process a sequence of thoughts and commands to execute a complex, coordinated set of actions. Without dedicated training to focus and concentrate on the task at hand, achieving this skill would have been a monumental challenge. This experience truly illustrates the incredible power of the brain-body connection when it’s given the right training and attention.
The Only Subskills You Should Focus On
"What are the real subskills? Well, contrary to what many skill acquisition experts profess, the real subskills are the ones your brain focuses on the most. These are the building blocks and the infrastructure of all physical skills. These subskills are the reason you can coordinate your movements, keep yourself balanced, and instantly become agile when needed. Yet, even more importantly, these subskills are the systems that keep you aware of your surroundings and alert you as to where your body parts are at all times."
